If Gilligan creator has his way, the Minnow never will be lost

TV mogul Sherwood Schwartz, creator of barking mutts like Gilligan’s Island and The Brady Bunch, can’t let a bad thing go. Consider 2002’s The Brady Bunch in the White House and 2004’s The Real Gilligan’s Island reality show. But straight-to-video’s not enough, it seems. The canny ol’ bastard and his canny-young-bastard son, Lloyd J. Schwartz, just had to go and write a theatrical version of Gilligan – Gilligan’s Island: The Musical. Don’t expect a Tony buzz, or even an AriZoni nod, ’cause word on the street disallows both. But pop-culture freaks – and who else could this be aimed at? – can expect a dose of innocuous dopitude to rival the original.
