Potheads unite for Million Joint March

By Jay Bennett

Published on May 01, 2008

You say you’ve never been much of a joiner. Perhaps you’re waiting for the right club to join – the right movement to believe in. Perhaps you’re just motivationally challenged. Or perhaps you simply feel uncomfortable around other people unless you’re stoned.

Well, do we have just the thing for you. In fact, Saturday, May 3, may be the day you finally get off your couch, fire up a blunt, and sign up, because Saturday is when hundreds of people locally and millions worldwide will unite, in various states of intoxication, for the Global Marijuana March (sometimes called the Million Joint March). The Valley’s version steps off at 4:20 p.m. (duh) at Steele Indian Steele Park.

More than 220 cities around the world will host similar events in an effort to protest the prohibition of pot and improve access to medical marijuana for those who are ill.
