Jazz luminary sings the classics – better than we thought

By Steve Jansen

Published on May 08, 2008

We recently discovered that we’ve been taking Dennis Rowland for granted, especially after the most prominent straight-ahead jazz vocalist in town schooled us last month during an effing amazing rendition of “Lush Life.” Since that night, we’ve been scouring the Internet looking for upcoming performances. The place he, and we, will be is Kazimierz World Wine Bar for the weekly performance by Dennis Rowland and the Jazz Experience. The group includes drummer/band director Greg Warner, Ted Belledin on tenor sax, pianist Chris Gough, and bassist Felix Sainz. Rowland and crew perform three sets of eclectic jazz standards and R&B B-sides.
