During the First Friday Art Walk on September 5th, French act Mr. Meeble will perform a live musical investigation at the retro-classic Hotel San Carlos, starting at 9PM and set to feature a peerless presentation of lights, imagery, and sound. Devin Fleenor, Blain Klitzke, and Michael Plaster clearly reside and think outside of the box with their unique music product, but in debut album Never Trust the Chinese, it is apparent that they may have lost sight of the box long ago in a willful exodus from convention. Theirs is an undeniably inviting form of soulful harmony and reflexive unrest, where melodic hooks and mesmerizing loops combine with scratches, glitches, and stutters in a holy testimony to naked imagination.

“If you have to classify us, we’re glitchy organic electronica and dark experimental pop, connected by bits of soul, hip-hop, and rock,” says Fleenor, who is the group’s front man and primary source of songwriting and production work. “This is not going to be a typical live show in Phoenix. There are going to be multiple video projectors, impressive technology from the French National Space Agency, interactive visuals, and a crowd coming in off the streets from the Art Walk. It’s going to go off. The September 5th show will be an explosion of raw creativity and emotion.”

This creativity extends to the company they keep. While the group’s instruments fearlessly assimilate with the electronic landscape, DJ Radar will reign on the turntables to add musical chaos via scratching and looping. “He is one of the best in the world,” says Fleenor, “and is always doing some real groundbreaking stuff.” Opening up will be Colorstore, an eclectic and quirky indie rock band, along with DJ Emile, Mer and DJ Epidemic. “At most electronic music shows, there’s a guy doing something behind a laptop, and that’s pretty much it. At the September 5th show, you’re going to see real live music, period. It will all combine to make an incredible vibe, and will be unlike anything you’ve seen.”
