    The New Times Summer of Sound Series is in full force and is hitting music venues all over the valley. Summer of Sound is a unique new movement that features 7 different genres, 7 different nights, at 7 different venues.

    The Jazz Summer of Sound Show will be filled with energy from local performers MUSIC FOR BOWLERS, JIGGLE, and ERIC RASMUSSEN who will also be competing to be named best in the genre. B Side Players from California will be closing out the show.

    Doors for all shows open at 7 p.m., with performances starting at 7:45. Admission for all shows in the series costs ONLY $5. The local winner in each category will be determined by audience votes -- so get out there, get your groove on, and cast your ballot.

    The New Times will be bringing a Psychedelic-Sci-fi feel to Club Mardi Gras with head liner Estratasphere on Friday, July 18th. The local acts YOURCHESTRA, JANIS JOPLIN CRAP 'N VOMIT, BLACK CARL, and ANDREW JACKSON JIHAD will be playing their best musical creations in order to be named best in their genre.

    Join Los guys, Grave Danger, The Rhythm Dragons & Waiting for Carpy Thursday July 10th at Monkey Pants for Patti's Day, a benefit rock show for Miss Patti the drummer for the local band The Hardways. Miss Patti has had two open heart surgeries in the past year and bands are coming together to show their support and help raise money to defer Miss Patti's medical costs.

    The show begins at 8p and runs through the evening. All money collected at the door will go directly to Miss Patti's medical expenses. Along with band will be drink specials $3 Captain Morgan & $3 Long Island Iced teas, plus $4 Jager shots with $1 going to the proceeds. $4 hot dogs will be on special for those who need to fill the belly before or after alcohol consumption.
